After managing the blogs Musings from RSN and The Red Sox Times, Tim decided to join theFire Brand community at the beginning of the 2008 season as a writer and producer and host of the Fireside Chats weekly podcast. When not writing, talking, or thinking about the Red Sox, Tim spends his time in NH with his wife and two daughters. (Twitter)

Born and raised in N. Providence, Rhode Island where you are either born a Red Sox or a Yankee fan. Luckily for me, my family has good genes. Before deciding to move to Orlando in 2003 I contemplated three things: Family, Friends and the Red Sox. For a good rant, be sure to follow Paul onTwitter after every Jason Varitek at bat.

BEST SHOW EVER!!! ;)
I thought it was pretty awesome!
Come back, boys. This drought is killing me.
Hey u guys! You know I am a Firebrand junkie. However, how come the podcasts and even editorials are behind the timeline??? I enjoyed last week's podcast just now and the reasons why Bradley shouldn't be at Fenway and how Ryan Sweeney would be fine … from a historical perspective, but would reqlly enjoy your take on game one! Are the podcasts deliberately a week behind? And editorial? C'mon guys. You are NOT the History Channel. Compete and win your rightful market share, as your talent dictates you oghta! Keep up the great work, just deliver it timely. Perhaps Firebrand isn't set up for i-phones? Thks. Gerry
Jesus Tim, let go of Papelbon! I was going nuts listening to you. You are forgetting all of the big games that Papelbon blew in the end. Paul is right – when Paps left, he was not the closer he was in 2007, and he is not Mariano Rivera. Closers are a crapshoot. They aren't easily predicted. None of the guys they've had since Paps has stayed healthy. So it's basically trial and error at this point. I hate arguments over "should we have resigned so and so 3 years ago, just because he's playing well somewhere else". NO, you do what is best for the team at the time, because even with the best statisticians you cannot predict injuries and longevity. Who's to say we resign Papelbon and he doesn't need Tommy John within halfway thru the season. Stop looking back. You can only deal with what you have in your toolbox at the time that you have them. You can't compare any of them to anyone on the Yankees because the Yankees have some sort of Benjamin Button time machine that reverses the process of aging in their players, that no other team has. Relief pitchers as a whole are a sh–tty investment all around.
By the way, Webster got chased from the Twins game tonight after 2 innings…and they had to bring in Doubront. How ya feel about Webster now, guys?
