The team that leapfrogged the Red Sox for second place at the deep end of last season is now focusing their attention on a first place crown and a much awaited playoff appearance. Life for Toronto isn

Signing Frank Thomas will make life painful for AL East opposing pitchers. I thought the guy was done at the begining of last year with Oakland, but he came back with a vengance. I expect him to continue paying off in Toronto.
John Gibbons though is a detractor from this team. By all accounts he's one of the brightest young baseball minds in the game today. But when you try to beat up your pitchers (especially the ones who are accomplished Ninjas and stuff) in the clubhouse, you're not going to be able to control the team.
The guy needs anger management training, or perhaps just management training, fast. If he can get that temper under control the Blue Jays could win the division (you know, adding in that the back end of their rotation performs above expectations). But if he's still crazy, the Jays could finish 4th as well.
You just can't punch your pitchers. It's not an effective management tool.

Being a Jay's fan I can honestly say this is the most talented group of guys I have ever seen in this city. We have some question marks in the rotation but have also seen some serious improvment in Towers and hopefully a bounce back to form is in the cards for 07. We can definitly afford to give up a little pop at SS with the best 3-4-5 in the AL right now. Claytons defense is his biggest asset. If he fails we have a capable John McDonald who is a carbon copy of Clayton. Even with bad pitching this offense should run up the score enough that we can afford the odd bad outing from the back end. Expect some suprises from guys like Stairs and Smith who are both solid coming off the bench. Ask most Jay's fans and our biggest loss was Catelanatto and Spiers who were both highly under-rated and will be missed.
