GAME NOTES: Game 2 of the World Series at Fenway Park. The Sox are three wins from their goal at the beginning of spring training. Keys tonight: Be patient and don’t chase Jimenez out of the strike zone, Schilling establishing he can throw the fastball on the corner and splitter/curve effectively, the offense staying red hot and handing it to Okajima and Papelbon for a Game 2 victory. Heading to Colorado with a nice lead while having to sit either Youk, Ortiz or Lowell (or play Youk in RF, but that makes way too much sense) is big. Curt- make (maybe) your last start in a Sox uniform memorable.

ok, it's been 4 pitches and I'm already pissed off. Ubaldo walks everyone, and we swing at 4 of the first pitches.
This kind of bullshit is NOT good. He has walked 8 in 11 innings! And we're so stupid, we swing at 75% of the first pitches. W. T. F.

  3. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 4:50 PM #

Unbelievable. he's out of the inning on less than 10 pitches. This team goes from being patient and waiting for their pitch to hacking at garbage at their eyes and at the dirt.
What happened to that plan we had?

  4. Sam October 25, 2007 at 5:01 PM #

this game is going to be alot different … you can see it already … props to the Rocks for coming out with a little life … lets go SOX!!! keep them bats hot Schilling is gonna need it!

  5. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:05 PM #

This is DISGUSTING. Do they have a new Netflix movie in back they can't wait to watch? PLAY LIKE THE RED SOX. Take a goddamn pitch!
I can deal with losing, and them failing, but them being this stupid is too much. Don't insult the fans who've watched you, who know you're smarter than this.

  6. Sam October 25, 2007 at 5:06 PM #

ok maybe its the other way around … we need Schill to hang tight cuz we apparently have forgotten how to work a pitcher

  7. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:07 PM #

Well, this'll be a short game. 19 pitches in 2 innings. We're officially the Royals.

  8. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:15 PM #

Thank god Schilling's on his game, because everyone else out there is sleepwalking. This is the world series guys, play like it. Take a goddamn pitch, even if the next 6 batters all K looking.

  9. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:21 PM #

So, is Ubaldo going to get his no-hitter, or are we gonna try to do something here? 27 pitches, 2 2/3rds innings. They won't even need their bullpen tonight.

  10. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:22 PM #

    SOMEONE WALKED! OH MY GOD

  11. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:31 PM #

Think we're going to get some good luck soon? Even with our streak, seems like we've been pounding balls just foul or people have been making diving catches a little too frequently.
At least our hitters showed they, like, care about being there tonight, a nifty change from the first 2. U BB BBaldo should still be at 70 pitches by now.

  12. Sam October 25, 2007 at 5:45 PM #

    finally … good job Mikey

  13. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:46 PM #

thank you. now we need a lead, and to actually make him work.

  14. Sam October 25, 2007 at 5:47 PM #

sorry to break your streak Sean O … that was like 5 straight posts lol …where is everybody? … our offense needs some more "encouraging"

  15. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:50 PM #

we are so unlucky, this is insane.
    TACO!

  16. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:51 PM #

we were so close. Lugo almost knew what his wife felt like

  17. Brent Nycz October 25, 2007 at 5:53 PM #

Thank you Ellsbury for giving me a reason to eat at Taco Bell… that's all I'll comment on here… woo!

  18. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:53 PM #

I hate lugo with every fucking bone in my body. I've never wanted another player injured as much as he, for every possible reason.

  19. Sam October 25, 2007 at 5:56 PM #

they actually chanted Lugo's name there for a couple seconds … thought he might show up for once … then Lugo reminded them who he really was

  20. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 5:58 PM #

well, this ump is doing everything possible to let the rockies win. That was strike 3 there, but nope, something 6" outside to Youk is a strike, but that's not.

  21. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 6:09 PM #

Sigh, we're in trouble. We cannot do anything with this guy, who can't throw near the strike zone.

  22. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 6:17 PM #

    YEAH! HOLD THE LINE!!!

  23. Dan Order October 25, 2007 at 6:20 PM #

solid rope by lowell, that was text book. FREEEE TACOOO!

  24. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 6:24 PM #

    YEAH FREE TACO!
    CMON TEK

  26. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 6:30 PM #

thanks a bunch tek, thanks a bunch.

  27. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 6:42 PM #

this game should be at least 6-1 now, unbelievable.

  28. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 6:50 PM #

    SHUUUUUUUUUTOOOOOO

  29. Daniel Rathman October 25, 2007 at 6:54 PM #

    Nice work Okaji.
    Insurance. Insurance. Insurance.
Way to start it, Ellsbury. Lugo…make me less ashamed of your sorry arse.

  30. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 6:55 PM #

'bout time you got here dan

  31. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 7:11 PM #

jesus christ, we can't get anything done when it counts. this is pathetic.

  32. Sam October 25, 2007 at 7:16 PM #

should be AT LEAST 6-1 by now … at least … its ridiculous how many 2 out rallies we have had die just short so far … at least the Rockies can't get the big hit either right now

  33. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 7:29 PM #

I do not have a good feeling about this one. Seems like one of those games that could be stolen from us, even though we've been playing better most of the night. Come on Drew, crank one.

  34. Sam October 25, 2007 at 7:32 PM #

Drew looks really good right now … getting on seems like everytime hes up … too bad the first two outs of every inning seems like a given …hard to score much with one out left everytime we rally

  35. Sam October 25, 2007 at 7:36 PM #

Oki has been awesome but Im not feeling too great about sending him out for more right now

  36. Sam October 25, 2007 at 7:36 PM #

    lol nevermind

  37. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 7:40 PM #

    SHUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTOOOOOOO

  38. Sam October 25, 2007 at 7:40 PM #

  40. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 7:45 PM #

    GOD DAMMIT

  41. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 7:47 PM #

    MVP! MVP! MVP! MVP!

  42. Daniel Rathman October 25, 2007 at 7:47 PM #

    Heads-up baseball. Nice work, Paps.

  43. Sam October 25, 2007 at 7:47 PM #

yes! lol he mustve been sleeping over cuz it wasnt close … Holliday looked pissed lol

  44. Daniel Rathman October 25, 2007 at 7:50 PM #

Holliday just can't baserun, or slide. Remember that slide against the Padres when he almost left his nose on the ground when he was safe by "catcher interference"?
I love that this happened exactly 5.2 seconds after Joe Buck proclaimed him the NL MVP.

  45. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 7:51 PM #

Lugo, I hope you die. You are the biggest pile of shit i've ever seen in this uniform.

  46. Daniel Rathman October 25, 2007 at 7:51 PM #

Lugo never ceases to amaze, er, appall me.

  47. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 7:59 PM #

here we go, hold the line Paps.

  48. Sam October 25, 2007 at 8:00 PM #

this is crazy … 2 outs … hit … 2 outs … hit … could we please get someone on before it gets down to 2 outs! … whatever … Paps just got to finish it off here and all those LOB wont matter

  49. RSF October 25, 2007 at 8:02 PM #

I really think Okajima should get more attention for what he does, but no reporters are brave enough to inquire about his thoughts because of the language barrier. He has clearly been the MVP out of the bullpen this entire postseason.

  50. Daniel Rathman October 25, 2007 at 8:10 PM #

    WIN!
    Two down, two to go.

  51. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 8:10 PM #

SOX WIN! SOX WIN! SOX WIN!

  52. Sam October 25, 2007 at 8:12 PM #

Oki is definently the player of the game

  53. Sean O October 25, 2007 at 8:16 PM #

    make 'em say uhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

  54. Sam October 25, 2007 at 8:16 PM #

good game … solid win … hopefully Dice-K can come out and throw a good one Saturday … seeya in Colorado

  55. Zach Hayes October 25, 2007 at 9:14 PM #

Bigger balls: Matt Ryan or Hideki Okajima???
2 MORE WINS TILL THE DIRTIEST WATER OF THE SEASON

  56. Steven Roth October 25, 2007 at 9:56 PM #

    1) Sean O = MVP of the Comments page, hands down.
    2) Oki-Doki was sick tonight.
    3) Schilling surprised me.
    4) The Rox got ROCKED!
    5) Please shut up about whats-his-face being the MVP of the NL. It's not going to help the Rockies win any games.
    6) Papelbon, that pickoff was CLUTCH. Do that funky dance white boy.
