Josh Beckett got roughed for five runs in his season debut and the Toronto Blue Jays completed the sweep winning 7-4.
Vernon Wells and Frank Thomas went yard in the win for the Jays in the win. Vernon’s dinger sent Beckett packing after 4.2 innings pitched with four walks and six strikeouts.
For Boston’s offense J.D. Drew and Jason Varitek both drove in a run as did Jacoby Ellsbury and David Ortiz. Manny Delcarmen and David Aardsma could not stay off the box score in the earned run column both allowing one a piece in their relief stints.
Goat of the Game: Japan Trip
Anyone with me on this one but this team just seems flat and lethargic out there. The bullpen cannot find their groove and everyone seems fatigued.
Preview of Next Game: 4/8 Kenny Rogers (0-1) vs. Daisuke Matsuzaka (1-0)
Did you ever imagine as a fan saying please Dice-K save us this season? I did not but the Red Sox sure could use a win on his back. Thank goodness for the day off as the BoSox certainly need it.

Not worried yet. Taking Tums again, though. Errors and mental mistakes are not their style, and this costing them games is an anomoly, obviously fatigue based. Drew and Tek are hitting. The rest will follow. Wake, Daisuke, Bucholz, Lester and Becket have all shown good stuff. Papelbon and Oki have been brilliant. Maybe Pepto will work better.

quit blaming the travel…these guys can’t sit on private jets and play video games or stay at deluxe hotels for a few days?…they have it easy!
The jays have a nasty staff, great defence and a stellar bullpen, get used to it!

Not worried. Not happy, but not worried.
They’ve been on a road trip that started with 6am games in Japan, including three exhibition games in the middle of everything. Sure, I’d be happier if they were playing better but I think their condition is easily explained.
Just wait until they get their rings at the home opener after a days rest. If they don’t look good Tuesday against the Tigers, then I’ll worry.

Nick (I guess you are from Canada by your spelling). sure the Jays are good, but you can’t give them credit for all of the errors we committed? not to take anything away from your Jays, but man, our defense has been disappointingly.

Hey Sox fans…what’s the scoop on Jed Lowrie? Any chance he’ll make an impact with the Sox in the near future? If his defense is better than Lugo’s, bring him up!!!
