Red Sox offense explodes

Manny Ramirez, Kevin Youkilis, J.D. Drew, and Coco Crisp drove in two RBI's a piece while Sean Casey drove in three to lead the offensive charge by the Red Sox (5-5) over the Detroit Tigers (1-8) for 12-6 win.

Tim Wakefield picked up his first win of the season on 5 innings of work, three hits allowed, two runs, one earned, five walks and five strikeouts. Nate Robertson garnered the loss giving up four runs in the process.

Detroit's pen mates of Zach Miner (3), Francis Beltran (1), Yorman Bazardo (4) gave up the rest of the runs as the Red Sox scored in bunches with four in the fourth, four in the seventh, and four in the eighth.

Star of the Game: Sean Casey

2-5 with three RBI's at first base is great for Casey. We might be seeing a lot more of him depending on how Mike Lowell recovers from his injury.

Sorry, my bad, it was the actual plasma TVs in the RF concourse that only show ads that were installed upside down. That was way way funnier to me.

I don't know if you noticed it, but in the vaguely mechanical-looking ventilation shaft down the LF line (between the home plate entrance and the huge bathrooms below section 30), the Sox added two giant old-timey boilers that aren't hooked up to anything. I am constantly amazed at the ways the Sox ownership finds ways to actually enhance the classic feel of Fenway by manipulating the hell out of us. Nobody does it better.

I'm gonna have to hold off on eating on Yawkey Way for a good month until they get their act together. It's El Pelon Taqueria from the time being I guess.

Glad you made it back Evan, and glad it was a hell of a lot better than the night before. Also, I hope Fenway managed to figure out a lot of things between nights 2 and 3, since sinks were overflowing in the bathrooms, concessions were totally screwed up (25 mins for a monster dog!?), and even those plasma ad screens down the RF line were installed upside down.

Also, Jools got murdered. damn.

Sean O: One of the pictures, can't remember which (turn the slideshow speed to one second, you'll breeze through) shows the RF plasma ad screens... they were right side up! That's funny that they were upside down.

I like the screens, but it was unnerving to see ads on them. I also don't like the font they chose for the pitcher/stats info.

Also, the pitch speed/type was working in the first, then crapped out thereafter.

It's great, because there are two little spigots that come out of the top of the boilers, and they very clearly aren't attached to anything. Also, if you're looking for the ad TVs down the RF line, it is right across from the men's bathroom by sec. 11 or thereabouts.

Let's document Fenway's dysfunction!
