In August, a Red Sox fan who is also a construction worker furthered the cause of the Red Sox along. The New York Post reports that in August, he buried a Red Sox shirt in a slab of concrete under the visiting team’s locker room.
The aim was to jinx the Yankees’ new home. Only now has someone stepped forward. “I don’t want to be responsible for sinking the franchise,” said a second worker, who witnessed the sabotage. “I respect the stadium.” Yes, so much that you mention something seven months later.
(UPDATE: The Yankees have removed the shirt.)

Seems appropriate, since the Yankees will be burying the Red Sox a lot in that stadium.
The funny thing, of course, is that nobody would’ve known anything if the other guy hadn’t stepped forward to tell the world. Either way, this is awesome. Any time you visit the new Mordor and are being taunted by troglodytic Yankees fans, rest assured that there is always a part of the Red Sox right there.
Aww, the Yankees fan discovered puns! That’s so adorable, like then my cat stares at himself in the mirror.
Kudos, Yankees fan, kudos! Object permanence is right around the corner.
Eric, have you watched baseball this decade?
And another bit of the Yankees legacy slides away. They’re moving out of the only stadium in which they’ve ever had any success, they haven’t won this century and now they have Red Sox gear in the foundation of their building?
Hahaha, just having some fun guys.
The Yankees organization dismisses it as untrue:
“The ever creative Post reported today that some Boston fan threw a Red Sox t-shirt into the concrete at the New Stadium. Somehow, this would curse the place. Sure thing.
Anyway, the Yankees say it
I doubt the Yankees organization would actually know whether or not a shirt was in the concrete. But what the heck is
… when you are working on a project on a construction site, you are barely, if ever, alone. If you do something like that, you have to get it through a couple of guys, so it would have to be a collaborative effort. You really think a guy can just sneak in a shirt while 5 to 10 guys are working around him?
And do you think the Yankees organization isn’t heavily supervising the construction of the Stadium?
Yeah, hence why there were multiple workers collaborating the story. What, you think George himself sits and watches the workers? Sure, they’re supervising the building, but as someone who’s worked in construction, the higher ups don’t “really” know what’s going on.
