Prev. Gm:

New York Yankees (5-5) @ Boston Red Sox (5-5)
Mike Mussina (1-1, 3.09) @ Josh Beckett (0-1, 9.64)
3:55 PM EDT | Fenway Park (Boston, MA)
TV: FOX RADIO: WEEI 850, WROL 950

GAME NOTES: Chien-Ming Wang pitched an absolute gem last night, end of story. Whether you’re a Red Sox or Yankees fan, you had to appreciate the sheer efficiency of his repertoire. What was frustrating from my end was the number of long shots Sox players were getting that kept finding Yankee gloves. Josh Beckett will attempt to put a foot towards a Cy Young campaign and get deeper in the game than he was able to muster against Toronto. Historically (even including the near perfecto) the Red Sox have been able to hit Mussina rather well. Let’s keep that trend up.

I don’t think Tito wants to mess any mojo Drew may have going for him right now and that’s why he’s no. 6.

how the hell do you let a hitter like Alberto Gonzales beat you when you have him 0-2, this is unbelievable.

Uh, you make a good pitch to tie them up and they still get a hit? It’s baseball.

something that we’ve seen from Beckett in his two starts is that he is tiring when reaching high pitch counts, it’s obvious that he is not yet at full strength.

Yeah, but he’s looked as dominant as ever to start things out. I’m happy with what I’ve seen from him so far. He had 4 ST starts so it’s not fair to expect him to be going 6 or 7 innings at this point.

that’s the first diving catch i’ve seen Drew doing since he got here, he really looks like a new man this season.

He usually doesn’t have to dive. He positions himself well, gets good jumps and covers a lot of ground.

Great play by Drew. This game is tied, or NYY is in front if Lugo and Drew don’t come up with those balls.
    Get A-Rod, Paps!

Sh*t, this delay is gonna be a b*tch. Paps should probably keep throwing in the rain, just in case or we’re just going to end up wasting him.
Am I the only one mortally fearing Lopez vs. A-Rod coming up after the delay?

Rodriguez hasn’t been all that clutch this year (1-8 with RISP). Let’s hope it stays that way.

Nice work, Paps, especially considering the delay. Wonder if he’s available tomorrow after throwing 26 pitches today…
Hope Papi gets it going against Hughes tomorrow.
Get us a series win, Dice-K!
