Manny Ramirez kills the New York Yankees. Hopefully for Red Sox fans Joe Girardi does not catch onto this.
Ramirez belted a homerun off the Volvo ad above the Green Monster and drove in two more to put the Yankees away winning 4-3. Jonathan Papelbon earned the save by fending off a rain delay, coming back and striking out A-Rod on three straight pitches then cleaning house in the ninth for his fourth save of the season.
Star of the Game: Josh Beckett
You might be asking why Beckett. Well here is why. We needed a win and Beckett got it. He bounced back after a rough first outing and went deep into the ball game pitching for 6 2/3’s and only allowed three runs. The offense should be able to come up with more than three and they did. All those ingredients equaled a BIG win for Boston.
Preview of Next Game: Phil Hughes (0-1) vs Daisuke Matsuzaka (2-0)
Dice-K has been hot of late so let’s hope he can keep it up. The Boston lineup certainly is not facing a Chien-Ming Wang pitcher in Hughes so they need to jump on him early. My biggest thing about tonight’s game is this: Big Papi, can you please get that home run hitting, clutch game winning, dances at the plate walk-off train going already.
START RUNNING TRAIN ALREADY!
Side note: Good job fox on pulling the plug with a 3-2 count and going to lap two of a NASCAR race. Totally enjoyed that!
