Jacoby Ellsbury and Kevin Youkilis both drove in two RBIs and Daisuke Matsuzaka struggled but earned his third victory of the season in only five innings of work.
On 116 pitches, Matsuzaka gave up four runs, walked six and struck out two in the win which was aided by a potent Red Sox offense. Manny Ramirez and Sean Casey each drove in a run for Boston as well.
Phil Hughes suffered the loss throwing only for two innings, giving up six hits and six earned runs while walking three and striking out three.
Star of the Game: Red Sox Offense
They notched a total of 11 hits, six walks, six runs batted in and eight runs. They made Hughes exit early and exposed the Yankees bullpen.
Preview of the Next Game: @ Cleveland
A two-game set against the Indians and right back to the New York Yankees so the goal for Boston here is to just earn a split against Cleveland.

Yanks just lost Molina for what looks like it will be a while (hamstring). That’s a pretty huge loss for a team that’s already last in the division.
Are you kidding with the “already last in the division?” They are a game and a half out of first. Dont make it sound like they are five games back. Why not talk about the strength of the first place Orioles. Silly.
who is that yankee with the pink bookbag on in picture #3? it must be a joke right?
pink… these guys just aren’t intimidating us anymore. me thinks the yankees could use little of clemens’ fire/rage/violence. what do you think moshe. have the duncan-less yankees gone “soft?”
Lol. That’s gotta be some rookie hazing. Great pics, Evan.
Definitely some rookie hazing and I love the mention of the last place Yankees. It puts a nice touch on things. Good job FM.
