Prev. Gm:

Boston Red Sox (15-11) @ Tampa Bay Rays (13-11)
Josh Beckett (2-1, 5.12) @ James Shields (2-1, 3.30)

1:40 PM EDT | Tropicana Field (St. Petersburg, FL)
TV: NESN RADIO: WRKO 680, SBN 1150

GAME NOTES: The Red Sox are going to look to avoid a sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays tonight. Big Papi is out again due to his bellyflop slide on Friday and the team will look to recover from a gut-punch loss last night. Can Beckett step up? If not, the Rays will suddenly be tied for first with the Orioles and Red Sox (and if the Orioles win today, they’re the sole team in first.)

Sometimes, you just lose. Let’s hope our stopper can beat their stopper today.

This is where Beckett needs to be the beast we know he can be and buckle down for 7+ while the offense finds its way.

Who thinks Beckett will jump on it today and stop the Rays? Count me in for a Sox win prediction. To make it official, I’m “logging it” in Ballhype’s picks functionality. I recommend everyone else head over before game time and do the same ;)

Problem is, Shields looks equally nasty. And our defense is looking shaky.

Before the Yankees unearthed the David Ortiz jersey buried in the cement of the new Yankee Stadium, David Ortiz was hitting .070 with one home run and 3 RBI.
Since the Yankees unearthed the jersey, Ortiz has hit .264 with 3 home runs and 17 RBI in 12 games.
So did the Yankees do the Red Sox a favor by removing the jersey?

He also knocked himself out of a few games with an idiotic slide!
