Prev. Gm:

Boston Red Sox (24-16) @ Minnesota Twins (19-17)
Clay Buchholz (2-2, 4.50) @ Livan Hernandez (5-1, 3.83)

7:05 PM EDT | Metrodome (Minneapolis, MN)
TV: NESN RADIO: WRKO 680, SBN 1150

GAME NOTES:
It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; Julian Tavarez is gone. I’ll miss the dancing, the petting, the bowling to first, and all the good times (almost none of which came as a result of one of his pitches). As you may have read, Julian Tavarez has been designated for assignment. The Red Sox must band together in honor of their former teammate. Viva la Julian!

Oh yeah, Casey’s back, it’s Buchholz vs. Livan Hernandez, and the Red Sox try and salvage a split in MN.

So…first I find out about Manny’s homer, then I flip on MLB.tv and see all hell breaking loose in the bottom of the 3rd.
Nice escape job to keep the game tied.

…or not, Daniel. Gameday is lying to you; it’s 4-3 Twinks.

No, not Gameday…though it usually is. I’m just not thinking straight at the moment.

Gameday was lying to me – it didn’t add the 4th MN run until well into the top of the 4th. I just hope Gameday isn’t also lying about the Yankees losing 5-0 to the Rays.

Well, we can’t win any games, and they got rid of my favorite player. Awesome. Call me when they become interesting again.

Can we have Janet back? At least the Sox win when she’s in the game thread…

Talk about being an embarrassment Buchholz. It makes me wonder how Schilling will do when he comes back. Also makes me wonder how Colon might do as well.

    Where the heck were you?
I was waiting to chat with you guys.
Great series. I did not think tonight was an easy one for the Twins.
I am glad it’s over though. I have a feeling Boston will return the favor in July.
That’s still a great team with the Red Sox. I am just glad the Twins fared well and got three wins.

So Boston lost three of four?
    So what?
They are still a great team. I don’t see any team beating them this year. They have done well overall. They will be there in the end. The Red Sox could have won the series here had they got couple of breaks.

Thanks, Leslie. You are right, they didn’t get many breaks, and now it’s time to get out of Dodge. Good luck to your team. Sorry about Neshek, but congrats on Nathan’s signing. We would love to have signed him. Glad you’re not missing S. Santana.
Becket in Baltimore. Let’s see if it stops there. It’s still early. We’re still in first place.
The Yanks lost to the Rays. Hanley is a forever Marlin. Corey, Julian, Alvarez are gone. Coco is playing like he’s in Cleveland. Wake & Buchholz got hammered. Julio has a concussion. Manny hit #498, but grounded out last nite. Youk is player of the week. Cora, Cash and Casey are lighting it up. Lowrie is in Pawtucket. Aardsma, Lopez, Hansen, Oki look great, and can do 2 innings. Paps blew two. The Sox outhit the Twins yet left 450 men on base. Becket, Wake and Timlin set records. The dome will be history next year.
Sean, wake up. This IS interesting. Strange and interesting.

gerry: It seems Red Sox fans have to be negative after a bad series. I don’t know why. I wish the Twins were as good as the Red Sox. I mean I am happy with the way they are playing right now, but I have so much admiration for that Red Sox. So they had a bad series. It happens. No team will be the 1998 Yankees. That’s hard to do. Red Sox fans should enjoy the season. I always wonder why Red Sox fans complain. Try being a Royals fan or a Pirates fan. That type of attitude is annoying to me.
Red Sox should be fine. As good and improved as the Rays are, they are still years away from being a contender. Yankees are in trouble with what they have in the rotation. Jays can’t hit. Why worry?
Thanks for the fine wishes on the Twins, gerry. I wish Boston well too. I hope you like what you saw from the Twins. And no, I don’t miss Johan. The guy was a punk last year in Minnesota. The only guy I miss is Torii Hunter, but Carlos Gomez has done well. I miss Hunter because he is a class act and a winner.

Look, I’m just bummed because the one player I enjoyed watching is now gone, even if it is for the betterment of the team. I guess I have a personal connection with Dustin since I was one of the few to stick with him last April, but otherwise there’s nobody I really want to fight for. I guess Hansen is the closest, but even that’s kinda meh.
I’ll get over it in a few days, but right now it’s just 25 boring millionaires. Ones who can’t even beat a team that, hypothetically, should be 20 games under .500 by the year’s end.

Sean: Twins as 20 games under .500? What makes you think they are? It’s pretty obvious you don’t even watch this team and that you don’t know much about this team when you say stuff like that. I don’t think they are division contenders, but to say that they are 20 games under .500 is shortsighted. I think this team has young talent that can play baseball, and they showed this series. I will get back to you later this year.
The Red Sox are having a winning record last time I checked. It’s not like they are the Yankees or some other team. They are playing great. I don’t see anything complain, but then again Red Sox fans love to whine for odd reason and play this sympathetic figure. I get tired of it especially since I deal with them here in NJ. Unreal.
