Does Theo read Fire Brand? A few weeks ago, I said that I thought it was time for Julian Tavarez to move on.
Rather than option Craig Hansen, the Sox designated Sexy Lips to make room for Sean Casey. Expect Tavarez to be moved to the Colorado Rockies.

Well, soon enough we will have answered the “who do we get rid of” question for the bullpen and we can focus on the “who do we acquire” question. We have lots of junk there and glad we are sorting through it, hopefully we can add an asset soon.

Julian, I will miss your antics when you’re not on the field and appreciate what you’ve done for the team. Time to move, godspeed.

For what it’s worth, KNBR in San Fran reports that the Rockies will only attempt to acquire Tavarez if they are unable to get Josh Fogg.

I’m sure the Red Sox have a few trading partners that they can get something done with. I’m not expecting anything more than the standard PBTNL.

If Tavarez is gone, will Timlin be close behind him?
    Timlin: W/L 2-2, 10.00 ERA, 2.11 WHIP
    Tavarez: W/L 0-1, 6.39 ERA, 2.13 WHIP
    Please?

At first I wanted to keep JT on but it wasn’t worth it. He pitches once every two weeks and as a long man doesn’t go more than two innings. Thank you for keeping Hansen on board, Theo.

With Julian, Craig Breslow, Bryan Corey freed, and Hansen at Fenway, we have less depth at RP than 2007.
However, Aardsma was a dynamite pickup, Lopez is doing everything asked for, and Hansen really does look good. These games in Minn. could have been alot worse without them. It’s good to know they can go two innings.
Despite my constant clamor for Harden/Street when that window was open, I like our Pen. Prediction: MDC and Timlin will get it together this home stand.
Question: Are Hansack, Zinc, Snyder, Masterson, Jones as viable depth as Breslow, Corey, Tavarez? I vote yes.
