MVN: Most Valuable Network

Josh Beckett had no answer for the Baltimore Orioles and the slump the Sox are in as Boston lost 5-4.  To add to the damage J.D. Drew will be sidelined with a left wrist injury.

Again in back-to-back games the Red Sox offense spotted the starting pitcher a 3-0 lead right out of the gate, but Beckett did not hold down his side of the bargain.  Baltimore notched one run home in the bottom of the second and capped off a four run bottom third frame on a Luke Scott three-run homerun off of Beckett that would prove to be the killing blow.

Boston had their chance to go ahead in the top of the seventh having the bases loaded with no outs for Manny Ramirez but he grounded out back to the pitcher for a 1-2-3 double play killing any semblance of a rally.   Mike Lowell flied out to left to end the inning.

Goat of the Game:  Beckett

Did not think I would be saying that tonight, but 5 2/3 innings pitched, 11 hits, five runs, two walks, and five strikeouts just ain't cutting it from our ace of the staff.

I understand we are in a slump and that the pitching is well just plain bad right now so can the offense just score ten runs and take some pressure off of the pitchers tomorrow.
