The Weather Channel has something pretty cool going on that they just started: when you visit MLB.com or a team site, you can get instant weather forecasts. In addition, if you visit a team page on Weather.com, you’ll find weather-centric stats. Take the Red Sox, for example.
They have won five day games and 10 night games this season (not including yesterday’s game. They have won four games in cloudy conditions and 10 in clear. (It’d be much more interesting if they provided the losses, too.) They have won zero games in windy conditions and 14 in calm conditions and as a function of the early weather, have won just one game in hot conditions and 14 with a temperature less than 70 degrees.
The best conditions for the team this year are day games, temperatures between 46 and 60 and winds cross-field left to right. Last year, with a larger sample size, it was day games, temperatures between 61 and 73 and winds cross-field left to right.
The Sox will play the first game over 80 degrees when they play the Orioles May 30th in Baltimore. This is all projection, by the way. Over 90 degrees is forecasted for when they visit Houston June 27th.

Right now I would be grateful for a few days of intense, can’t see the ball and can’t play, rain . . . and R&R for this bunch.
