Any resemblance between the Kei Igawa who shut down the Pawtucket Red Sox on Wednesday night and the Kei Igawa who got lit up last season by American League batters was pure coincidence.

Carter’s home run last night was a shot. It was one of those homers that if you were not watching you heard it and knew there was a solid chance it was leaving the ballpark.
Wow, I think Carter is asking to be promoted…
Has anyone else been waiting for Carter, this pure hitter, to adjust from the move, and redux his extraordinary skills at the plate? This is how he hit in AAA before his late trade to Pawtucket, and he would be a hitting machine at Fenway . . . as, IMO, would Bailey, Moss, VanEvery, Kottaras, and Brown. And his defense continues to improve (OF/1B). What depth.
Guys – one question: Regardless of how well Carter does at Pawtucket, what does Boston do with J.D. Drew?
They keep J.D. Drew because no one else will want him.
Not only that, he gets on base, provides occasional pop, can run, has a good arm and plays solid D. He’s not a star, but he’s a contributor. He’s a complementary player. As long as we remember that, he’s a great value.
Simply put, would you rather Trot Nixon or J.D. Drew? As much as we all love Trotter, the answer’s obvious.
