Tim Wakefield turned in another quality start for the Boston Red Sox only to see his outing turned into spilled milk.
Wakefield pitched for seven innings and only allowed two runs while walking four and striking out three, but Hideki Okajima did not fare as well allowing four runs in the eighth inning. Okajima only managed to get two batters out in the inning and gave up four hits.
Goat of the Game: Have not done this in a while
Easily Okajima and it is obvious why. Man can we get Brandon Morrow?
Preview of Next Game: At least we get to see Masterson pitch
We are at home. Justin Masterson is on the mound. Matt Garza is 4-1.
Point being … I think we can score a lot of runs in this game despite the fact that Big Papi is sidelined at this moment. Someone has to start stepping it up and it is not the offense, BULLPEN!

i think you can put this loss on Tito, Why was Cora hitting with the bases loaded and 1 out in the top of the 8th? Cora is the worst hitter on this team and the perfect candidate for a double play in that situation, Pedroia should have come to pinch hit. Any time you have a chance to step on the neck of the opponent you do it, you do not give away outs. Also after the walk to Hernandez it was clear that Okajima didn’t have it, then wtf Tito let him in there to get shelled??

Agreed. We had momentum going to pile up a couple more runs. The DP ended it. Casey, as DH, is an expert at lofting the ball for either a 2 run single or a SF. The chance of his doing so was probably in the 50% range. Also, Tek has been hitting well. Oki showed he didn’t have it from pitch #1. He has been used a lot. Are we wearing him down again? Only earlier? Both Hansen and Paps were ready. IMO the way to win tight games like this is to be aggressive in using pinch hitters and base running to create a run or two, and having a quick hook for relievers to prevent a run or two. We tend not to play that way, which has cost us a few games.
