Another Red Sox rally led this time by J.D. Drew and Manny Ramirez was squandered by the bullpen brass as Boston lost 10-6.
Down 4-3 headed into the bottom of the fifth inning Drew and Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs to give the Sox a 6-4 lead.

My guess? I think the Orioles have figured Okie out. I knew it’d be a matter of time until they did and when they did, oh shit did the floodgates open.
Perhaps he should take five until the next series. In the mean time our offense needs to step it up if our bullpen cannot.
I just hope the Yanks didn’t figure Okie out as well. We’ll have to counter with slamming Joba.

Okajima has pitched 27 games and allowed a run in only 4 of them. He has allowed 9 runs this year and 8 of them to the Orioles, 7 in two games. He’s pitching fine, the O’s just have had his number the last couple times he’s faced them.

Well it’s kind of like Timlin facing Giambi or the Yankees proper. Some teams just have it out for certain pitchers and if I was a manager I’d take note of that and figure out when not to put them in.
Okie and the Os this year just don’t mix in my book.

    Okajima vs. Orioles: 13.50 ERA
Okajima vs. All Others: 0.40 ERA
    Yup, they’ve solved him alright.

This game is one of those “you’re just not going to win it” anomolies. Two of the best pitchers in the game (Becket & Oki), and a third who is on track to become one (Hansen), were beat up badly by the lowly O’s. Go figure. Daniel’s and Joe’s stats say it all. Not to worry.
