Beckett dominant, Crisp cruising

Coco Crisp drove in four runs including two on a home run and Josh Beckett was dealing over 7 innings pitched with six strikeouts as Boston routed the Reds 9-0.

With the win, it marks the first time that Beckett has ever beaten Cincinnati and also improves his record to 7-4 on the season.  The homer by Crisp was his fourth of the season.

Continuing to be red hot for Boston, J.D. Drew notched his 11th round tripper of the season in the big win.

Player of the Game: Beckett

Maybe this will really get him going on the hill and in the confidence department.

Preview of Next Game: Philly

The Phillies have been hotter than Drew as of late after a 20-2 win previously this week.  It will be hard for the Red Sox to fall behind early to the Phillies and try and march back into the game, so gotta break these games open early and the bullpen has to be extra sharp in this series.

I'm going to the Tigers/Giants game tomorrow, and the Sox are 2-10 when I go to any ballpark (which, by the way, means that they're a ridiculous 42-18 otherwise). In fact, they've lost the last six days I went to a game.

I was going to give up the tickets to see if I was indeed responsible for more than a third of their losses, but Verlander/Lincecum is just too darn tantalizing to pass up.

That said...Stop the streak, Bartolo!

Good one, Daniel. I will counteract your going to the game by sitting in precisely the same way, with the same drink, in the same seat as I do whenever the Sox and Celtics win. Balance in the universe is key here.

As in Cinci, the Phil's ballpark rewards long fly balls and line drives, and the surviving Sox produce alot of them, even against top pitching. So, while you watch the Tigers beat the Giants, we will watch another power display from the mighty Jacoby, Dustin, Coco, Youk, Tek, Mikey, again led by The JD. Add in SB's by Julio, Coco, Jacoby, great D, and vendetta pitching (you KNOW that Colon, Lester, Masterson, Papelbon, Hansen, MDC have much to prove this series) and we will be just fine.

The Sox are also on a streak of taking two out of three games. Not to worry. Enjoy the game.

Gonna be a toughie. It's a young fireballing lefty then a softtossing old lefty tomorrow. We can't win both. Can we?

I think we can that is for sure. But again I am the ultimate optimist. Always.
