Make it 19

Yes, 19 come from behind wins for the Boston Red Sox and 12 in their last at bat.

Jason Varitek drove home the go-ahead run in the bottom of the eighth on a single to right plating Mike Lowell to give Boston a 5-4 lead.

Jonathan Papelbon shut the door in the ninth for save number 22.

Star of the Game:  I take it that ...

Varitek reads our blog because he came threw with the game winner tonight.

Next Game:  A win much needed

After seeing Youkilis get plunked in the eye last night I think this win is refreshing for many reasons.

Gives us some breathing room and maybe some mojo now.

I request a video for tomorrow!

Wow, I gave up in the 7th inning. Good win!

I'm going to the Phillies/A's game tomorrow night. This is bad news because (as I've said before):

The Sox are an abhorrent 2-12 when I go to any ballpark, and an amazing 46-20 otherwise.

I can't believe I actually believe in this, but the odds of that happening are so tiny, I can't help but think it's slightly more than an unfortunate coincidence.

Incidentally, if anyone wants to pay me back half the cost of that ticket ($10), I'm more than willing to give it up as an experiment. If the Sox win, I won't go to a game for a month, with the exception of July 11th, my second ever trip to Fenway.

Daniel, after the Phillies vs. A's nailbiter tonight, the game should be good tomorrow. As an alternate experiment, I will be in my win-seat, unmoving, for the entire game tomorrow which, I am certain, will balance the universe and cancel the potentially negative effects of your going to the ball game.

However, I will happily pay that $10 so you can see Wake vs. Johnson, when anything, absolutely anything can happen. The combination should overwhelm the snakes.

So, enjoy either game with confidence.

Alright, we'll try your experiment tomorrow, Gerry. DO NOT MOVE!!! (Kidding, of course.)

But if the Sox lose, I'm putting my tickets for Sunday's Giants/A's game through a shredder.

Very nice comeback win tonight. I can't believe Melvin didn't walk Lowell to face Varitek, but Varitek ended up singling anyway. They needed this- I was fearing another June swoon like we suffered last year.

Although 2007 ended kinda nice. So SWOON AWAY

Kidding, of course.

Or am i??
