Never a dull moment around here.
- Houston seems to be the land where players get into it with their employers. Shawn Chacon shoved his general manager to the ground, now Manny Ramirez has shoved the traveling secretary, Jack McCormick, to the ground over a dispute about ticket allotments. ManRam wanted 16 tickets to Saturday’s game and McCormick warned he may not be able to accomodate the request, at which point Manny became agitated. (Providence Journal)
- Security teams will follow the Red Sox to their Tampa Bay trip, starting tonight. A threat was made against black and Latino players on the Red Sox (two by name, who will have a security detail attached to them) via a letter believed to be from Memphis, Tenn. Of course, the likelihood that anything actually happens is close to nil, but it’s still a sobering thought that these fanatics are out there. (Boston Herald)
