So, anyone think there will be a retaliatory knuckleball for the pitch behind Youk? Is there even such a thing?

WTF was wrong with Youk's slide? Joba was blocking the plate without the ball. Home is the only base you are not allowed to block without control of the ball. Youk could have knocked his ass to the ground if he wanted to. This joe Morgan phenomenon is amazing.

Fox and ESPN games are so annoying. I said this in the comments section below but I'll say it again: Arod's curtain call makes it #30,293,359,893 on the season for the Yankees....

hindsight is what it is, but whenever Morgan talks about how brilliant it is to pull a pitcher, you have to know some runs are going to score.

C'mon guys...it's Red Sox middle relief.
Did you honestly expect something different? Remember Tampa Bay only four games ago? In all honesty I'm not too upset if we lose this because if we do it'll be like nothing happened at all. The only concern I have is how Tampa destroyed KC and will make the catching up that much harder to do.

I dunno...Joba nor Wake will get a win so we'll have to see where this goes. I mean if we lose, NY has no room to brag. If we win, we're six games ahead which is a decent cushion.
Drew's up now against the Farns...let's see where this goes.

Hmm, I think your original sentence made more sense Colin.
LETS GO SOX!

I guess Tek did his job but I'm surprised he batted ahead of Manny in terms of pinch hitting. Neither of them scare anybody anyways.

Wow...Manny up for Cash now...
Tension so thick you can cut it with a knife.

stupid move, wtf was Varitek hitting there, it shoulda been Many, this sucks.

All Manny has to do is push a ball into right field, a trademark that he owns. MAN UP.

THREE FUCKING PITCHES MANNY......
get your eyes checked you worthless fuck

Posted by Jc, July 6, 2008 11:06 PM
that was so predictable, wtf did Tito give Tek any chance to hit? and wtf was Manny looking for at the plate?
#26
Posted by Colin, July 6, 2008 11:06 PM
Well worst case scenario...if we lose it's split down the middle and we remain 4 games ahead of NY.

The first thing the Red Sox need to do when they get back to Boston is give everybody a mandatory eye exam and see if anybody is failing (Tek, Lugo, Manny).

Great, Oki is in now. Has Paps pitched at all in this series?

Nice Francoma. Bring in the guy who can't pinch hit, and is in a slump anyway.

Man.... Oki?!
Look at Tito pulling all the wrong switches tonight. Lopez, Tek, Manny. Sure... why not.

Paps pitched Game 2 with that BS call concerning the Crisp catch. That's about it.

@Steven - he last pitched Friday. Remember the 4 outs the Sox had to get?
#36
Posted by Steven Roth, July 6, 2008 11:11 PM
Then what the fuck is he not in the game for? Bottom of the 9th, tie game against your rivals. Using your best pitcher is the recipe for winning.

Posted by hynes, July 6, 2008 11:15 PM
Wow... Do you think Oki might be finally turning a corner?

Posted by Jc, July 6, 2008 11:16 PM
this team really needs to do something to adress the walking corpses of the bottom of our lineup ( tek, coco, lugo, cash) we can't expect to win the division with those guys giving away outs like candies on halloween night.

I'm good with Oki coming in. I doubt we're going to score in the top of the 10th and Paps can't got two innings. If Oki holds, awesome, if not, it's a game we were more likely to lose than not.

MR, top of the order coming up for the 10th...why the lack of faith?
#43
Posted by Mostly Running., July 6, 2008 11:18 PM
Forgive me for two reasons: inning hadn't ended when I was writing the above, and I didn't realize where we were in the order thanks to all the subs. Still, Jacoby, get some shit done.

I can count more on Dusty and Drew but then again I'm not so sure tonight.

I traded Drew from my fantasy team today so that means he'll hit one out. It's all cool.

We definitely need Papi back ASAP to add some ummph to our order. I read on rotoworld today that the Sox talked about Barry Bonds today but that seems premature seeing that Papi is close to take a rehab assignment.

Honestly guys...the goat definitely goes to Lopez but even if we lose I'm not that devastated. We'd still be four games ahead but what devastates me are the Rays and their gap.
#53
Posted by hynes, July 6, 2008 11:24 PM
I don't understand this move at all given what Oki just did.
#54
Posted by Steven Roth, July 6, 2008 11:29 PM
IMO, Goat of the Game is Manny Ramirez who obviously was rebelling against Tito for putting him in the game on his off-day.
MR- who did you trade Drew for?

Posted by Steven Roth, July 6, 2008 11:36 PM
Pap needs to find his splitter asap, it's been fking him over this season.
#61
Posted by Colin, July 6, 2008 11:36 PM
Wow Paps...like Beckett and Oki your performance has been questionable as of late.
Oh well...split series.

I hope the Sox shake of the chaff at the end of this lineup soon.

Shake it off..
Big series vs. Minnesota. We need to sweep.
#64
Posted by Steven Roth, July 6, 2008 11:38 PM
Once again, if Manny had woken up during his at-bat, we might have been watching a different ending.

Posted by Colin, July 6, 2008 11:41 PM
Who does NY play anyway?
Out of this series I can figure out what our problems are already:
1. LOBs
2. Bullpen
3. Questionable starters/closers
4. Lazy bats (Lugo/Tek)
5. Manny needs to care again.
6. Ortiz needs to come back.

Papelbon is a lot more human than he was last year.
And Okajima.
And 2nd half Delcarmen.
And......well everyone. We need help in the bullpen and quick.
I still think we'll win the Wild Card, at least. Probably 25% for the division (5 GB ehhh) but still hope. Keep the faith.

Maybe like the Yanks of 2007, the All-Star Game will help us figure out how to fix shit up.

@Steven-
Drew + Lidge for Aramis Ramirez + Lincecum.
Met needs for both teams, sell high for each of us in some ways. I've got saves pretty well locked but need k/9 and corner infield.
@the world
Lugo would never have touched the game winning grounder if it hadn't meant possibly keeping the runner at third. God bless Mr. F-lugo.

Too many goats last night. BTW, I will be out of country for a week+. When I return, I expect to find either Hanley or Jed Lowrie at SS, and Street or Fuentes and Zinc in the BP, and Masterson back in AAA getting the training he needs, and Buchholz back in the rotation trying to figure out which set of mechanics work best, his own or Hurst's, and Carter in LF to see if he can replace Manny if he walks.
