The previous poll:
What would be the best way to determine home field advantage for the World Series?

  • Team with the best overall record.

    49% of all votes

  • Leave it as it is. Team from the league that wins the All Star Game.

    21% of all votes

  • Team from the league with the better winning percentage in interleague play.

    10% of all votes

  • Alternate between leagues each year.

    14% of all votes

  • Have Martha Stewart grade each team’s clubhouse on overall aesthetics and livability.

    7% of all votes

I was actually pretty split about this. I do like the idea of home-field advantage going to the winner of the All-Star Game. A lot of people don’t like it, but I do. It’s a nice, unique wrinkle. I’m not so hot on the idea of best overall record. The Cubs get to beat up on so many inferior teams. How is that fair to teams in the A.L.?
How did you vote, and why? (New poll up on the right courtesy of Joe, the last trivia question winner. Speaking of trivia, new one tomorrow.)

The Martha Stewart idea is actually better than having the All Star Game determine it.

I agree, but wonder what would happen if she got locked up again. Would Rachel Ray take over the duty?

Honestly I forgot if I voted for leave it the way it is or the the leagues should switch every year. I’m thinking the later, but I know it should not be determined by record. It would be trying to give the look of being balanced when it would be just as arbitrary than the other two options. If you switch it every year then you’re not playing favorites.

I think I voted to give it to the best record … just because it seemed simple and almost every sport does it that way … but I agree it does have alot of problems … and actually now the more I think about it … I do like the switching every year format … It’s also simple and it is not at all unfair … I mean of course if the Red Sox faced the Rockies last year and the Rockies got home field … that would’ve sucked … and thats what I first thought when I looked at the idea … but now … I dunno it just seems simpler and the one with by far the least amount of variable problems that could cause mass outrage and all that
Whatever we do let’s just make sure we wait to change it until after the AL starts losing a couple All-Star games … which may be never anyways so whatever
