Prev. Gm:

New York Yankees (58-45) @ Boston Red Sox (60-45)
Sidney Ponson (6-1, 4.02) @ Jon Lester (8-3, 3.20)

8:05 PM EDT | Fenway Park (Boston, MA)
TV: ESPN RADIO: WRKO 680, SBN 1150

GAME NOTES: Chance of rain tonight till about 10 PM ET, so we could have a delay. Good news? Joe Morgan is in Cooperstown so ESPN will send someone slightly less idiotic and brain-damaged. Also, Ellsbury in the eight spot followed by Varitek is an idea Tito should consider for tonight. The pitching matchup favors Boston: Sidney Ponson is 6-1 and has done a fine job since being acquired by the Yankees, but his WHIP is 1.61 and he’s been very lucky with balls in play. Jon Lester’s been great for months now save a few bumps in the road, and he threw a CG gem at Yankee Stadium last time he faced the Yanks. Another one of those, or something close, would be more than accepted. Getting swept at home by the Yankees would be devastating.

Based on the forecast, I don’t think this one’s going to be played today. Which makes things interesting because I believe this is the last Sox/Yanks series at Fenway until the final weekend of the season. Should the rain not go away, would MLB have the guts to make them play a twinbill during that potentially crucial weekend?

yeah Lowrie has at least been productive lately, wish we could say the same for Cora. If this game is rained out it would be a huge blow to the Red Sox, losing a shot at Ponson

Is Tito conceding this? Where is Lowrie? Or is Cora the mediator? Lester, K#1. Awesome.

Still want to trade him now? Lester is a BEAST. One more thought, Jon Miller is actually really good, he just gets overshadowed by the bullshit that spews out of Joe Morgan.

maybe Varitek will save the Red Sox a tough decision by retiring after this season? when Sidney Ponson makes quick work of you it might be time to hang it up.

BEAST. And I didn’t know he had the 3rd most DP grounders induced in the Majors. Kinda liking the Philips, Herschizer, Miller combo. Why is Morgan still employed?

    Zach-
Getting swept in a three-game series in July at home to the skankees is not devastating.
Getting swept in a five-game series late in the season at home IS. I should know, I was at every single game in the series, I’ve never witnessed such an ass-kicking in my life.
    Jon Lester, the Ace…the Stopper.

Get back in your place Skanks.
3-4, guess Ellsbury likes the 9 spot. This basically confirms what I’ve been thinking, as long as the Yankees are throwing Rasner and Ponson out there, they don’t have enough pitching to be a serious World Series contender. About time that the Sox asserted themselves.

Also, Lester is officially the Ace and will be reffered to as BEAST by me from here on out.
