Here are the results of the nickname “contest” for Justin Masterson:

  • Monsterson

    27% of all votes

  • Jedi Masterson

    17% of all votes

  • The Master

    15% of all votes

  • Sergeant (for his military demeanor/bald head)

    13% of all votes

  • Bat Masterson

    9% of all votes

  • Master Sergeant (E8 Army rank)

    7% of all votes

  • Just-K

    5% of all votes

  • Telly Savalas

    3% of all votes

  • Baldy

    2% of all votes

  • Masterful Masterson (MM)

    1% of all votes

Some of you will notice that I have not included the less-than-sanitary nicknames from Masterson that some readers submitted to the poll, further solidifying the Yankee fan stigma of being you-know-whats.
As I mentioned, we’re probably going to turn this into a T-shirt and put it up on the Internet for any interested parties to purchase. I think we’re going to start making a little Fire Brand store, which would be neat, don’t you think?
The new poll asks you to choose between the top three nicknames of Masterson: Monsterson, The Master and Sergeant/Master Sergeant (if the latter one wins, we’ll vote again as to which Sergeant moniker should be used). I did not include Jedi Masterson because of legal issues, although that was a fantastic nickname suggestion. The winning name, again, will be placed on a T-shirt. Have at it!

please god, don’t let this be true, Tejada is hitting a miserable .281 .318 .420 , at least Lugo was getting on base better than that.

$*@&…I actually welcome Tejada if it means we send Lugo to Houston. Miguel can toy with the Monster for the rest of the year and then we can spend the offseason finding a suitable SS or giving the job to Lowrie.
Face it, the bottom of the order isn’t strong enough to win another WS.

Looks like Dice-K has been saving up all his bad innings from the last few starts and decided to use em all tonight

Yeah we are having game thread problems … tonight sucked … as do all losses … of course the 13-4 beatdown of the Yankees at the hands of the Orioles does help things a bit

Over at Chop ‘n Change they’re talking about Will Ohman for Hansen and Place. I doubt Theo would do that, but I would definitely pull the trigger on that trade. Place will never get on base enough to play in Boston and Hansen just needs a change of scenery, he can’t handle the pressure and with his stuff he shouldn’t be a mop-up man

Interesting thought, Bob. As for game threads, Zach’s been really busy… it gets frustrating at times, but remember we’re all human
