Ryan – When you are a club like the Boston Red Sox you expect to beat up on lower level teams. Kansas City is like the equivalent to building a puzzle without all the pieces right now.
We were rolling hot, we just got Jason Bay and finally the offense was looking good. And no offense but we almost gift wrapped that one last night leaving 12 total runners on base and 5 with runners in scoring position and two outs. You cannot say that was a dominant win by KC because I wont believe it.

My point was that I’d rather be a part of a smug fan base that has been consistently competitive for the past 10 years. I found your accusations of arrogance and your hopes for winning two out of three games to be revealing to the state/psyche of the two franchises.

I understand what you’re saying, Mostly Running – but what got my blood boiling were these two comments that Shawn (the author of this post) wrote:
First was this one following the sweep of the A’s:
Next Game: Sweep KC
“Honestly, its Kansas City and we are hot right now.”
And then this one:
“This was supposed to be a sweep. Offense and Beckett better show up tomorrow.”
Plus, toss in the…uh…”uninformed” opinions of the Sox faithful last night at Kauffman, and Red Sox Nation has not been represented very well in my eyes. It was very unfair of me to generalize everyone under that umbrella – but it’s still extremely agitating to see fans like that.
And Jared – your statement was more than a little confusing – you agree that you’re smug because…you agreed you were smug enough to anticipate a sweep? Thanks (I guess) for making my point.

Ryan-
I think you’re addressing your issues to the wrong crowd. Most everyone that comments here would admit to being fans of KC, Tampa Bay and all of the other teams that have struggled but are showing promise.
At least for me, the thought of a sweep was based more on Boston’s momentum and changes that have happened within the club than a lack of appreciation for KC’s talent. You have a good team that can beat any team on a given day. Still, it would be nice for the Sox to take 2/3 and I think it is probable that will happen. That’s why they play the games though.
Here’s to good baseball throughout mlb.

Well the difference between our organizations can be summed up easily enough by your statement. We are smug enough to anticipate a sweep prior to the series and after winning game one you are merely pulling for two out of three.
Either way, I like KC and hope you guys get Hosmer signed. Hosmer/Moustakas/Gordon/Butler/Cortes/Hochevar/Duffy/Wood etc…will hopefully give you guys a window within 2-4 years where you can rip of a few divisional championships/pennants.

In all seriousness, Joba pulled a Clemens. He was getting beat so he limped off the mound clutching his shoulder. They’re saying stiff right shoulder (yes someone got paid for that diagnosis) and he’s flying to NY today for tests. He’ll miss his next start at the least.
