The Sox have dealt with injuries and issues to their since ST, losing Schill, Beckett, Matsuzaka, Wake, Colon, Buchholz, DelCarmen, Papi, Manny, Lowell, Drew, Tek, Lugo, Coco. The Sox hung around 1st place because of their depth: Masterson, Pauley, Smith, Hansen, Casey, Cora, Moss, Carter, Bailey, Thurston, Van Every, and let’s not forget Jed Lowrie.
I hope Longoria and Crawford will be fine, but this is what baseball people have been talking about, playing through the long grind at a high level, especially when injuries occur.
The remarkably well balanced and deep Red Sox can still roll out Zinc, Pauley, Hansack, Bowden, Smith, Jones, etc. to replace Wake, Buck or Hansen. At the same time, Ellsbury and Lowrie keep heating up while JD, Dustin, Youk and now Bay keep carrying the team . . . until Papi, Mikey and Tek find their grooves for September. It’s crunch time again. Go Charlie.

This could be the best chance to make a run at the division. We have Texas, Baltimore and Toronto twice, solid teams, but the Sox should beat them, especially at home. Tampa is @Oak, @Tex, vs. LA, @ ChiSox. They’re a much weaker team on the road and they just lost their two best players. They already lacked a legit RF and now they lost a very legit LF.

Also, Sam, finally some run support for our Ace. Can a team have 3 Aces? Can a knuckleballer stop Hamilton, Kinsler & co.? Are there any stats on Wake vs. these guys?

I hope we’re winning 10-0 tomorrow so Josh Hamilton can send one deeeeeeeeep to right field. If he can hit one like he was hitting at the Home Run Derby…my god.
No disrespect to The Kid.
