Yes, the final score of this game was 19-17 with the Boston Red Sox coming out on top after scoring 10 runs in the first inning capped off by two three-run homers by slugger David Ortiz.
Charlie Zink’s career debut went as follows: 4.1 innings pitched, 11 hits, 8 runs (all earned), one walk and one strikeout.
That will be a game and a career debut Zink will never forget.
Jonathan Papelbon earned his 32 second save of the season in the ninth.
Star of the Game: Red Sox Resiliency
After seeing a 10 run lead collapse most teams could pack it in, but not these Red Sox who fired back after Manny Delcarmen also pitched poorly giving up three runs (two-earned) in 1.1 innings pitched. Also Kevin Youkilis gets a nod for the star of the game – along with Ortiz – for smacking two home runs with the biggest one coming in the bottom of the eighth.
Next Game: I am still thinking about this one
This would def be an ESPN instant classic. Anyone agree?

As a Rangers fan I shake my head and utter curse words at this game, one that typifies all that is right yet terribly wrong with this team. An amazing comeback is thwarted by the most inept pitching staff probably in major league history. Every Rangers pitcher involved with this game should be demoted. If this team had league-average pitching, they would easily have the best record in the AL.
Actually, it’s good that you guys won because you have the pitching to actually compete in the postseason, unlike us. And I’m rooting for you to knock off those stupid overspending Yankees.
    What an effing travesty.

Ugh, I have a headache. What a freaking mess of a game, and I’m talking as a fan of baseball rather than as a Sox fan. No pitching, no defense, terrible officiating, endless stalling… virtually nothing that comes with a well-played baseball game. I spent the entire night staring at disbelief, when I wasn’t simply staring at the wall behind me.
It wasn’t even about being angry, because that would’ve admitted that what we were watching had any basis in reality. I need sleep.
