It might be safe to say that Jon Lester is the new ace of the staff.
Earning his 12th victory of the season over 7 innings of work, allowing just four hits, and one run while striking out five in the win over Baltimore.
Jason Bay homered twice in the victory belting a solo-shot in the second and a two-run homer in the 8th.
Star of the Game: Lester
Again, Lester dominated opposing hitters.

After rough starts, IMO, this team has 3 Aces. Lester and Daisuke hit bottom in April, randomly awarding walks and HR’s and keep getting better. Beckett hit bottom a few days ago with his worst outing of an inconsistent year. Isn’t it probable that each one should get stronger as we reach September, as each one has been through this before.
I am more concerned about the back end of the rotation and 8th inning relief. Who will it be: Wake, Buchholz, Byrd, Colon, Other??? I wonder if Pauley, Zinc, Buchholz or Colon could plug that 8th inning leak for a month or two???
All I am going to say is expecting a series sweep is always asking a lot. They’re playing big-leaguers and Baltimore isn’t atrocious this year, being only 4 games under .500. I think if the Sox can just get series wins from here on out, they’ll be breathing down the Rays neck all the way to game 162.
They won the series. Will Buchholz start to show his own Ace-Ness tomorrow? We all knew something was wrong with Beckett. Now we know, losing feeling in two fingers in his pitching hand. Awful. Let’s hope it can be diagnosed and resolved quickly.
