Drew has herniated disc in back :(
Any word on how long Drew will be out?
CORA?????, seriously this is pathetic, Drew out and Tito puts another automatic out in the lineup, why does Tito hates Casey so much? Marcum must thrilled to pitch tonight.
3 automatic outs at the bottom of the lineup and no outfield arms to speak of. It’s going to be a long rest of the season.
you forgot the one at the top, Bob.
Four consecutive automatic outs in the lineup…that ain’t good.
I second the “Where’s Casey?” sentiment, Jc.
I won’t count Ellsbury because he seems to be turning it around. At least he has the potential to get hot and cause havoc. You know what you’re getting in Cora Crisp and Varitek and it isn’t good.
There’s a pretty good chance we get bombed tonight. When a team faces a pitcher 3 times in 2 weeks it’s usually advantage hitters. Add in the fact that this is Paul Byrd, a below average starter and the prospects get worse.
Follow Dustin to the promised land!
Yay Dusty! He is truly one of the blessed.
If I’m not mistaken I think that’s his first hit ever off Marcum.
Byrd makes me shaky though…
Way to go Paul.
And that really helped :\
Bob:
That’s correct. Dustin is now 1-for-12 lifetime against Marcum.
Byrd’s pitches looked like batting practice that inning…I’m surprised Scutaro didn’t get a hit…got some pretty good hacks in there too.
About those automatic outs…
Ugh…well Dusty, Ortiz, and Youk are next. Here’s hoping they can produce something.
Guess I shouldn’t have gotten excited about two of them reaching in a row when there were two more to follow.
That was … productive.
Oh noes…could I smell an offensive slump?
But Byrd is doing decently and that’s good.
I just hope one of the automatic outs comes through here and plates the tying run.
my power went out right before the end of the 1st. Looks like I didn’t miss much
HA! AO takes one for the team and now it’s tied!
Who knew that the AOs would give Marcum trouble
maybe crisp can do something similar
Wow all the AOs did something!
In my eyes Pedroia can do no wrong.
Wow that’s a quick hook with Marcum? I know he’s given up 4 runs, but he was at 80 pitches and it’s the 4th. Wonderif he’s injured…
Whoa…didn’t exactly see that coming.
Hopefully Byrd can at least deliver a quality start and give the bullpen a 2+ run cushion and 3- innings of work.
Just saw this on Extra Bases, and it gave me a chuckle.
If Pedroia were a Blue Jay, he’d be leading the team in homers with his 13 on the year.
Damn it…now we gotta put forth all that effort all over again.
Wishful thinking.
And double damn…those annoying Yanks tied the Baltimore game.
Interesting that Byrd has his strikeout stuff today, but is giving up a lot of hard-hit balls when the batters do make contact.
It’s more or less just rotten luck. Hopefully the hitting/walking streak can stay alive.
So much for that…well maybe Byrd can give us another scoreless inning.
Oh craps. 1 out, man on 1st…
Better score, Byrd is mediocre at best
Must be that fresh Canadian air helping Tek swing
Has Gaston been possessed by Tony LaRussa? All these pitching changes with 2 outs just to get the matchup
Phew! Got out of that jam…now please Baltimore, get back in the swing of things.
AO takes another one for the team!
Well if all goes according to plan, we win, the Yanks (hopefully) lose, and guys…Chicago or Tampa Bay? I’m really torn but I’m aiming for TB to win just to help our WC chances.
Chicago, I’m not giving up on the division. In any case, if the Red Sox do their job this series they should gain a little ground on both teams
Well the O’s blew their game so at least nothing changes between us and NY.
At least we have this game in our grasp.
great win tonight, and the stopper goes tomorrow.
