I think Wakefield was just trying to commemorate his 500th start by giving up 500 runs. He just forgot to tell Tito is all.
Daniel, the offense can do it… but the question is: the bullpen can hold the bledding for 8 innings? If we win this, they need to do some heroics.

why Tito keep Cash in the game? Tek has been hitting lately. And we are gonna need every pice of wood in this one.
Tek does kinda need the occasional day off, and he wouldn’t really get one if Tito put him into this game this early. My guess is if it’s reasonably close, we’ll see him around the 7th.
You are right, Daniel. On the other hand, this feels like an emergency situation.
Why would it be an emergency? They have a healthy wild card lead and Tampa already lost. This is hardly a must-win.

I’m with Bob. If we endure a loss, it sucks but it’s not anything catastrophic. I mean we’ll still be 2.5 GB Tampa and the Yankees might go back to the magic number of 7. Whoop dee doo. I mean we were kinda due for a loss anyway.

Worry not about momentum M.A.G., because whenever someone blabs on about momentum, they’re bound for a loss. Look at the MFY. People said they were building momentum and then wham came two losses.
The Sox lost momentum the moment Tito handed the ball to Wakefield. It’s no coincidence that he put an end to a FOUR game win streak.

Relax guys…it’s just one game. Honestly stop getting all in a tizz because we’re still 2.5 GB the Rays. Remember how the Sox operate. Even if the fans want the AL East, the Sox want in the playoffs, not just dominion over the AL East. Listen to Tito, trust in Tito.
Amazing that we can get 13 hits and have an awful game. But, we are on the road and are streaking, despite a pitching meltdown. We are coming home with the season in our own capable hands, though we owe a thank-you to the Jays.
Good news. Youk is back, with his 25th HR. Casey is back and got a hit. Lowell, Lowrie and Coco went 2 for 5; and Bay, Kotsay, Bailey and Ross got hits. Not bad for a massacre.

There hasn’t been a team yet that’s gone 162-0. Sometimes you just take one on the chin. This team has shown an ability to come back after a bad loss. I don’t think anyone in the clubhouse was worried about losing momentum.
And with Wakefield, this is the kind of thing you get once in a while. Sometimes the knuckler doesn’t knuckle, sometimes it knuckles too much.
