BOS 8, TEX 1: Welcome back

In Mike Lowell's first at-bat after being on the disable list, Lowell smacked a solo-home run that would open the flood gates in Boston's 8-1 rout of the Rangers.

Josh Beckett also returned for the Red Sox earning his 12th win of the season on 5 innings pitched and seven strikeouts.  He did not walk a batter and gave up just four hits.

Lowell finished with four RBI's total in the contest, three hits, and two runs.

Star of the Game:  Lowell

Now with Lowell back the defense is rock solid for now.  We need Youkilis back at first but Kotsay/Casey suffice for the time being.

Next Game: Stay hot and thanks Jays

If the Jays can continue to pick on the Rays and the Sox continue to swing their bats the division lead might be slim come Monday night at Fenway.

Tito has been putting patchwork lineups together all year, and managed to win.

He must be giddy knowing that September marks the return of his All-Stars, one or two at a time, making winning the division and WS possible again.

I can hear him thinking happy thoughts, like:

"Great job rotation. Beckett will be back tonight, and Colon next week. Fresh arms."

"Lowrie and Cora did a good job, and Gold Glove Mike and his Bat will be back tonight. Tight infield, good bats."

"Bailey and Kotsay are great additions, and this weekend Youk and Casey will also be back out there. Man this is a good team."

Next week. "Smith and Pauley did well, and now Aardsma's regained his command and 98MPH fastball, so let's put him out there with y'all. Good timing."

"Almost forgot, also next week, after a phenomenal job by Coco and Mark, our other hitting machine JD Drew is ready. I do believe we are better than 100%, healthy and well rested, just in time for the playoffs."

Playoffs here come the new Red Sox: Angels, Red Sox, Rays, CWS or Twins.
