It was a night where the Red Sox organization thanked its fans for setting the MLB record for most consecutive sell outs at home – 456 to be exact – and it was also a night where Jon Lester made everyone notice he is the best left handed pitcher in the game.
Yeah, that is a bold statement but I will make it because Lester is the best.
Lester improves to 14-5 on the season after shutting down Tampa for 7 2/3’s innings, on six hits and nine strikeouts.
Jason Bay hit a solo-homer in the 3-0 win.
Stars of the Game: The Fans
It was their night and they made it known. Cheering and standing on many 3-2 counts. Having a thank you message put up on the video scoreboard. Getting commemorative tickets to the game. It was the night of the fans and they appreciated it the most along with the hard fought win.
Next Game: Dice-K
Let’s take the lead. And if tonight’s crowd was this awesome I can only imagine how loud and energetic tomorrow will be.

WHERE WERE THE TICKETS. We didn’t get there ’til about 5 of 7, but I have no idea where they were supposedly hiding.
    I feel gipped.

PS – you know what the best part about Mr. Grammar above us is – he missed that I spelled commemorative wrong as well.

FoxSN once again blacked out NESN in Florida. Truly evil, and bad for baseball. I paid for it. I want to see it, and I didn’t.
But the game notes tell me Lester is truly an Ace, and isn’t near his high side yet; that Bay and Kotsay are happy at Fenway; and Coco’s streak is unreal (.291BA??). Get it to .300 Coco, and 3 more HR.
However, just 9 hits at home tonight, and Coco had 1/3 of them. The team needs to hit Kasmir to win, even if Daisuke is at his pound-the-zone best.

    There / Their / They’re?
You guys are in college, correct? You are currently writing for a living. This type of error is beyond ignorant, given the prior two points.

I like Lester as much as the next guy but saying his he is the best lefty in the game is absurd. Which left handed starter is better:
    Player A- 13-7, 2.70 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 175 K, 205 IP
    Player B- 14-5, 3.23 ERA, 1.31 WHIP, 138 K, 189 IP
Player A, right? That’s Johan Santana. Player B is obviously Lester. Although Lester may be the best lefty in the American League Johan is still the best in the game, hands down. Regardless, love the site.

Doug…which one is in the NL and which in the AL?
I agree that Santana is better (right now), but it’s not by that much…and Lester is younger.

Are we forgetting that Cliff Lee is clearly the best lefty in the game this season?
