9/13 GM 2: Don't let them into it
| Prev. Gm:
|
Toronto Blue Jays (80-68) @ Boston Red Sox (86-61)
Jesse Litsch (11-8, 3.70) @ Bartolo Colon (4-2, 4.09) 7:05 PM EDT | Fenway Park (Boston, MA) TV: NESN RADIO: WRKO 680, SBN 1150 |
GAME NOTES: Since Litsch's befuddling minor league demotion and subsequent promotion, he's allowed just five earned runs over 25.2 innings. He has a 1.64 ERA against the Sox this year. It's about time Colon returned.

Huh? Isn't it supposed to be Lester against Halladay?

Plenty of game left. Sure would be nice to see some baserunners get batted in though. Red Sox baserunners that is.

Would have taken a bit more, but you take what you can get right? Let's go Paps, you can do this.

Anyone else think Scutaro needs a good high-thigh-ball tomorrow?

TD-
Papi took him out on a clean slide to break up a double play. Next inning he went hard at D-ped, no sweat there, but through his hands up while doing it. Had a little bit of piss on his face from the moment Papi clipped him to the end of the game.
Just think if the opportunity presents itself it might not be a bad thing so long as it is a well thrown errant ball.

Seriously Mariano? You're going to let the rays come back in the 9th? Why do you hate me so?

Good solid comeback win ... this was a big one for us after losing this morning ... let's keep the pressure on them ... keep pushing as we roll towards the playoffs ... Go Sox

I want to see J-Bay in the fifth hole tomorrow. I like Kotsay and Casey, but they are clearly lesser players than Bay. Why Tito keep him down in the order?

The world was ending this afternoon, but is back in its orbit tonite. We took another 3 game series, except it's Lester vs. Halladay tomorrow, and I will miss it at the Jags-Bills game. Come on Jon. YOU'RE the man now.
IMO, Colon's 2ER game was pretty good after 3 months off, especially following the Jays' shelling. Today we saw the many ways Ellsbury can make this a better, more energized team. After the earlier bad call at 1st, tonite's swinging bunt kind of evened things out.
Aren't Lopez, Masterson, Pedroia, Youk, Lowrie, JD and Bay having unexpectedly incredible years for the Sox??? Bay loves Fenway and is responding. Don't you enjoy seeing Bailey, Carter, Van Every, Kottaras, Bowden, Hansack getting a look? What a promising group.
On that note, I continue to follow the struggles of Brandon Moss and Craig Hansen. In tonite's 12 inning game, Craig pitched a scoreless inning and Brendan hit a walk off double. Did you know Snider is a 28 year old rookie? I hope Tito gives our 25 - 30HR hitters Bailey and Van Every a shot, as their combined 20 - 25 HR off the bench could bring the team above 200HR for 2009.

Sorry, the above post reflects random thoughts after a long day of the September baseball roller coaster.

What made the day complete was watching Ohio State get trounced and having UCONN kick the crap out of Virginia. I hate both Ohio State and the ACC with a passion. It's going to be a doozy when USC plays Georgia for the championship
