- The PawSox set a franchise record for most wins in a season (85) and qualified for the Governors’ Cup playoffs for the first time since 2003.
- Fifteen different players were promoted from Pawtucket to Boston.
- Of this 15, seven made their major league debut.
- Pawtucket dominated the International League All-Star Team, boasting not only the Most Valuable Player (Jeff Bailey) and the Most Valuable Pitcher (Charlie Zink) but also second baseman Joe Thurston plus outfielder Chris Carter.
In retrospect, the PawSox had the best of all worlds in that they were able to combine winning with development – which isn’t always the case.
