It was a rainy, cloudy ceremony to honor Johnny Pesky and his lifetime contributions to the Red Sox. Just as the sky got misty, so did Pesky and most of the crowd. Here are some photos from the ceremony…
Nomar Garciaparra paid homage to Johnny Pesky, “his friend.” Curt Schilling also appeared, claiming he would have struck Pesky out had Schilling ever faced him (Pesky was one of the hardest batters ever to strike out).

Carlton Fisk stands at the ready…

IMMORTALITY.

Instead of the first pitch, Pesky opted to hit a grounder, one he’s hit to dozens of Red Sox players in the past, most notably Nomar.

WHOOPS! He missed! After laughter, he would then go on to nail the second try and send a beautiful grounder to Ortiz. Ortiz fielded it cleanly, by the way.

David Ortiz congratulates Johnny Pesky after the first pitch/bat.

Congratulations, Johnny!

The other numbers look new, did they replace them all?

Not that I can tell. They’ve been like that for a while for me.
