Kapler 2.0? Brewers sign veteran Nixon

In a signing that wasn’t exactly the lead story in the national news, the Milwaukee Brewers have signed veteran outfielder Trot Nixon, 34

This continues a trend of Milwaukee signing forgotten Red Sox outfielders that started last year with the signing of former minor league manager Gabe Kapler. Kapler hit .301 before injuries ended his 2008 season, and Brewers manager Doug Melvin told Trot he hopes he is “next year’s Gabe Kapler.”
