MVN Outsider ranks the offseason winners

Written on January 26th, 2009 by Ryne Crabb39614 Commentshttp://firebrandal.com/2009/01/26/mvn-outsider-ranks-the-offseason-winners.htmlMVN+Outsider+ranks+the+offseason+winners2009-01-27+03%3A02%3A12Ryne+Crabb

Jaymes Langrehr at MVN Outsider gives his ranking of “best offseason’s of 2008/09″. I think #1 goes without saying. They spent alot for that honor. For what it’s worth, I was initially surprised with who notched the 2nd spot. But when you look at the collective of the Red Sox offseason, I think it’s warranted. Even with some misses (Teixeira, a young catcher – heck, any catcher), Theo done good.

Could Jon Lester regress?

One of the better stories of the 2008 season was the maturation of Jon Lester into a pitcher very much to be reckoned with.

There are three pressing questions when attempting to evaluate Lester’s chances for 2009: control, workload and xFIP.

Fire Brand takes a look at each component and attempts to answer the question.
