Gerry, although having Byrd as an option to join the Red Sox rotation mid-season is decent. I prefer the route where all the starters stay healthy and produce. Oh, and the one where Buchholz becomes an ace :)

Let's hope that if Paul Byrd comes back for a second half, that he does so with the Red Sox. Even with this pumped up 2009 rotation, he could add experience, depth, skill, a half dozen W's, and contribute to the development of the young guys coming up during a post-season drive.
Having Byrd joining Wake, Smoltz, Saito sharing advice and confidence with the rich young Sox pitching staff of Lester, Delcarmen, RRamirez, Masterson, Bard, Buchholz, Bowden, maybe Jones, Zinc, Tazawa, Hagadone would be solid gold . . . and a unique opportunity among most MLB teams. Priceless.

Watching a guy with a lack of velocity have success is a cool thing. Shaun Marcum may throw 89 or so but he has multiple pitches he can use, and watching him try and fool batters is fun. I know he may only end up being a 3, but I feel that he can be a little better than that once he learns how to pitch a little more. And yes, I know Byrd's velocity is even harder to have success with than Marcum's.

If they pitched the show exactly as you just described it I would watch religiously.
Dumb & Dumber is always a positive for me. Best comedy of the last 20 years and most underrated film overall for that same period IMO. Unlike most of the crap that gets turned out these days Dumb & Dumber gets better with a 2nd and 3rd watching.
Bull Durham is also a classic.

Gotta say...I like the Byrd-man. Could you imagine an MLB Network reality show with him and Kevin Millar touring the nation together talking to baseball fans?
That would be like Dumb & Dumber (meant in the most positive of ways of course) crossed with Bull Durham.
