Prev. Gm:

Minnesota Twins (7-8) @ Boston Red Sox (8-6)
Francisco Liriano (0-3, 5.09) @ Brad Penny (1-0, 11.00)
7:10 PM EDT | Fenway Park (Boston, MA)
TV: NESN RADIO: WEEI 850, SBN 1150

GAME NOTES
: Wakefield has notched his second straight complete-gamer. The nightcap brings Jeff Bailey at first base and Kevin Youkilis seeing third for the first time this season. Penny takes the mound hoping to go back to what his season debut was (6 IP, 3 ER). He started out last game strong but it deteriorated into a three inning, seven run effort.

Let’s hope for a better outing from Penny today. So far it looks like he’s hitting the strike zone more than last week.

Bailey! I’m sure Gerry will be happy about that. Good for Bailey making the best out of the time he has.

    Bailey just keeps on contributing.
Anyone else piqued by the fact Bailey drew the start and not Carter?

Carter’s a lefty, so he maybe didn’t get the start just because Liriano was on the mound.

I can’t believe they got that game in. Rain stopped right before the rescheduled start, began right after Paps got the last out. Even though I’m still pissed about last night, it ended up being a great night. Hoorah for Bailey, I was thrilled for him.

Loved that game, and am thrilled they got it in also. Bailey’s homerun was awesome.
Though I must confess that my favorite part of that game might’ve been Dave Roberts throwing out the first pitch.

DR, tell me the next time you’re going to a game, I forgot to see if we could meet up. Maybe next time.

Outstanding results on the field, but I do have one last question about the rescheduling.
The Sox have an off day today. Was there some reason they couldn’t have rescheduled the Tuesday night rainout for today instead of yesterday? Tuesday ticketholders would have had a better shot at attending a Thursday afternoon makeup game than a Wednesday.
Maybe there was some Players’ Association thing about preserving the off day. But otherwise, I agree with Sean O (never thought I’d say that): By playing the game on Wednesday, the Sox screwed several thousand of their customers. That’s not good business.

    Sean:
That slipped my mind as well…I’m going to try to make it out to one more game before I head back to SF for the summer on May 8th. It’ll most likely be either the May 6th or May 7th game against the Indians. I’ll let you know. If not, I’ll probably go to a couple more after I come back in late-August.

I have tickets on the 6th, so maybe we can meet up for that one. We’ll talk as it gets closer.
