Prev. Gm:

New York Yankees (9-8) @ Boston Red Sox (11-6)
Andy Pettitte (2-0, 2.53) @ Justin Masterson (1-0, 3.18)
8:05 PM EDT | Fenway Park (Boston, MA)
TV: ESPN RADIO: WRKO 680, SBN 1150

GAME NOTES
: Pettitte has been the Yankees’ best starter today; will he be the stopper for them that he’s been so long? He didn’t give up a walk or a strikeout in his last outing (seven innings) so that may not bode well for him. On Masterson’s side, he’ll likely struggle with Yankee players laying off his sinker. If he can stay in the zone, he’ll go long. Otherwise, it’ll be a short outing.

Monsterson better get deep into this one with MDC, RamRam, and Paps all unavailable. Even with Bowden there.

Ah, no harm done. At least he’s hitting. But if that’s the hip, I’m worried about the defense.

I’d be willing to cut him a bit of slack after yesterday. With any luck, he can make it up at the plate.

Should we charge these errors to the grounds crew? WTF is up over there at 3rd?

Nice little Giambi imitation there by Teixeira. Way to take advantage of it, Papi.

I love the logic Miller/Morgan have. Let’s tell Nick Green to bunt Varitek over — who may not make it because he’s slow — even though he probably won’t score on a single anyway, because he’s slow. Pardon?

    That was SWEET!
Nice outing, Monsterson. But now we’re throwing Hunter Jones right into the fire…as a LOOGY to face Matsui. Any chance he unseats Lopez with a successful outing here?

Any other shortstop, the ball that Youk just hit is an out. Classic proof of “Jeter can’t go left.”

Masterson tosses a gem, Ellsbury steals home (that was ridiculous!), and the bullpen holds together. Can’t get much better for the Sox!
Did you guys see Jorge Posada tonight? He looked absolutely frightened when Jacoby was stealing home!

Not worried about this team at all, no way, no how. Lots of power still revving up, aggressive base running, incredible bullpen . . . 10 straight wins despite Beckett, Lester, Matsuzaka, Penny, Buchholz, Smoltz still getting it together, and lineups already including 7 lucky AAA names like Green, Velasquez, Bailey, Carter, Van Every . . . and Jones & Bowden. Wow! The formula works. Don’t change a thing, Theo!
