Saw a press release today that I thought you would all be interested in.
Apparently in advance of the Baseball World Cup (yes, there is one, independent of the World Baseball Classic that MLB does not allow its players to participate in) in September, Europe is seeing a spike in popularity:
Over 40 players from no less than nine European countries (England, Portugal, Spain, the Czech Republic, Italy, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, and France) are currently playing in the North American major and minor leagues – the highest number ever.
Initial reports from Little League baseball, working with the European Baseball Confederation (CEB), are showing an increase in enrollment of over 10% for boys and girls playing Little League baseball across the continent.
Always good news, and it wouldn’t surprise me if the next frontier of baseball players, already being imported from Japan, China and Korea, comes from Europe itself — especially with cricket already being played and similar to baseball.

I belive the Red Sox have two European player in their system. They are both pitchers and they are very tall. One of them is from Germany. Despite their height, they don’t throw very hard though.
Lar must be hurt. He hasn’t played in two days. How bad are Still’s catching skill? He must be a really bad catcher because he is never mentioned with Exposito. He has the best bat out of all the Sox catchers.
Still is not a catcher anymore. He made one start there this year under emergency circumstances. He destroyed Low-A ball after college, big whoop. He was only average in High-A last year in Lancaster… big problem. At this point he is nothing more than organizational depth.
It is my understanding Lars is not hurt, only getting a mental break after the coaches noticed him pressing to get out of a slump.
