In his first six starts for Pawtucket, Bowden is 2-1 with a 1.06 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP – each of which ranks third in the International League.

“This kid just wants to win,” said PawSox pitching coach Rich Sauveur. “He wants to improve on every pitch. If he doesn’t throw a strike, he’s almost a perfectionist.

“He wants to learn. He’s a very good student of the game, which I appreciate. But that bulldog mentality is in him and is going to be in him his whole career.”
