Prev. Gm:

Toronto Blue Jays (27-15) @ Boston Red Sox (23-16)
Brett Cecil (2-0 1.80) v. Brad Penny (3-1, 6.69)
7:10 PM EDT | Fenway Park (Boston, MA)
TV: NESN RADIO: WRKO 680, SBN 1150

GAME NOTES
: Even though the Papi video tribute didn’t bring back the old Papi (it was a lefty pitching…so a break is called for), a win begets a little more video mojo action.  Too bad the Jays are throwing another lefty again tonight.

with the vocal styling of Bronson Arroyo.

Ok, I’m happy for Papi and all… but the truth is I still want to move him down the lineup.

One game does not a comeback make… but damn, that was nice to see. Not only the HR, but the double. Hope it takes the pressure off Papi.
It also doesn’t suck, not at all, to have Brad Penny give us another creditable start. The only negative tonight was Bard’s first subpar outing, but otherwise no worries.

Papi has 15 – 20 more Fenway AB’s to get fully back in the groove, and didn’t he seem like he’s put it behind him? That’s two huge hits on different pitches from two good pitchers, both in the 400 ft. neighborhood. This matches up with his batting practice bombs.
I wouldn’t worry about Bard. As Eck kept saying, the Jays hit the fastball, and they went from figuring out Penny’s 92 to MDC’s 94. By the time Bard appeared, and threw 98, they were seeing it very well. It took the Oki Doki and Saito’s stuff to re-close the door.
What a great game, and the Sox took the series to stay ahead of the Yankees. All this and Ellsbury’s Sox & MLB put out records and getting his streak to 15. Is this a pivotal week for the Sox? I think so.

Nice to see Papi get the monkey off his back. No one likes to see someone struggle as bad as he has, unless its A-rod. Hopefully, he takes off from here and becomes the the feared Papi he has always been for the Sox.
