5/28: Beckett = Stopper

Josh Beckett pitches in his 100th start as a member of the Red Sox and his first appearance in the Metrodome. Unless these two meet in the playoffs, this will be the last time these teams meet in the dome.

Fangraphs addresses Ortiz.

Written on May 28th, 2009 by Ryne Crabb45283 Commentshttp://firebrandal.com/2009/05/28/fangraphs-addresses-ortiz.htmlFangraphs+addresses+Ortiz.2009-05-28+15%3A26%3A34Ryne+Crabb

Stay confident, although very skeptical that Ortiz can regain any resemblance of his past form. Although Kevin Slowey is a finesse righty, Ortiz did hit two balls fairly well to straight away center last night.
Ortiz still has trouble catching up with the fastball though, that is evident in watching him swing the bat. 90 MPH fastballs seem to blow right by him at times. And there is no doubt that mentally, he is pressing.
