This is the Jon Lester every Red Sox fan expected this season.
Lester pitched a perfect game into the sixth inning giving up a double to Michael Young with one out. Lester retired the first 19 batters of the game and finished with a complete game win allowing one run on just two hits.
David Ortiz hit a a solo shot to right field just inside the Pesky Pole and Dustin Pedroia had two RBI (both off singles) to lead Boston offensively.
Jason Bay knocked in two runs in the fifth on a single as well.
Star of the Game – Lester
Lester was remarkable in this start shutting down a very potent Texas Rangers offense. Lester has been getting better with each start and it will be no surprised to see his record skyrocket way above his current 5-5 mark.
Next Game – 6/07 vs. Texas Rangers – Vicente Padilla/Daisuke Matsuzaka
How do you follow up that pitching performance by Jon Lester?
