BOS 1, ATL 0: All-Star Lock
Six innings. No runs. Three hits. Sounds like an All-Star caliber start from All-Star worthy pitcher.
That pitcher – Tim Wakefield.

Jon Lester leads every starter in the Majors with an FIP (Fielder Independent Pitching) of 2.00. Lester has allowed only 2.45 BB’s per nine, while striking out an awesome twelve batters per game-frame. And his home runs are at a more than manageable, 0.55 per nine.
Beckett is no slouch either. His FIP is second in baseball at 2.36 over the past month. And watching him has been a privilege. Because when Beckett is on, he is as great as anyone in the game.
Jed Lowrie will return. And many are patiently awaiting that return. And by “patiently,” I mean we are waiting because we want him to return, but also because Nick Green has been more than enough since Lowrie went down.
And the best part of Nick Green is…that he’s solidified the position defensively. After the first month of the season, Green was defensively challenged. He made a lot of errors, and simple plays turned into a success for opposing hitters. But his UZR, and what we see with our eyes, suggest something much different now.
Josh Beckett continued to dominate the Atlanta Braves and David Ortiz launched his eighth homer of the season beating the Braves, 4-1.
