If you assume he has some inside information, it looks bad for Lowell. But given that the trade deadline is still a month away, we can wait a couple weeks to see if Mike can come back. If he can't, or his recovery is still uncertain in two or three weeks, then the Sox need another 3B or another 1B. Bailey/Kotsay is an adequate stopgap, but no solution for the stretch run or playoffs.
