Considering the ovation Nomar got, why wouldn’t we honor Wake and his first All-Star appearance even more of an ovation when he takes the mound tonight?

You’re missing a hell of a game, blue. FOUR of the six pitches Wakefield just threw to Mark Ellis were in the strike zone. And yet, Ellis gets a free pass to first-base. Ridiculous.
And…all’s well that ends well, I guess. But Wake is walking one heck of a tight-rope.
Time to kick into gear, offense. Can’t get beat by a pair of 21 year-olds in the same series at home, even a pair as talented as Anderson and Cahill.
So, Mark Ellis walks on one ball and four strikes, and J.D. Drew is called out on a pitch that was clearly outside?
You didn’t call it for Wake, McClelland, so why are you calling it for Cahill?
Unbelievable.
Consider the offense kicked in gear.
And Wake got a standing “O” as he left the game, as he richly deserves.
He DIDN’T have much luck tonight, and as the error charged to Nick Green was removed (correctly I think) those runs are now earned. But he got the win, Papi is back, JD & Ells keep doing well in their reversed order, and Nomah had a great visit. A good series, no matter how frustrating.
In fairness to the ump, it’s very tough to call knuckleballs. They act so differently than other pitches. And Wake’s was really jumping last night. Did you see Orlando Cabrera’s facial expression after striking out? Priceless.
