Winning was nice, but something does need to change with the offense, another bat would definitely be a welcome addition and since the Sox clearly have no confidence in Buchholz why not make him the enterpiece for a VMart deal? This is a good team on the cusp of greatness, it's really just one premier player away whether its a pitcher or hitter VMart or Halladay, add one of those two and a ring is there for the taking

I really like a pitchers' duel. Nerves of steel (not!). Had Ellsbury been correctly called safe, it would have been a different game. This was beautiful. Is Teahen available?
Is Bannister back? Lots of redemption going around this year. Including Rocco's arm, Mark Kotsay's single, everything about Nick Green, Jason Veritek and Big Papi. Lot's to like.
Lester really is awesome. He just keeps getting better. I hope all y'all saw his Nike video on never giving up that was posted on bottomline. What a great season this has been so far.

Plus, Lugo can't really run, either. That's why he's not playing -- no more range.

Makes sense, I suppose...just thought it was a curious choice to pinch-run. (I would've expected Lugo, with Bates then taking over at 1B...but simply pinch-running Bates for Kotsay didn't seem to make a whole lot of sense.)
Of course, knowing Lugo, he would've gotten picked-off. And, in any case, it worked.
I agree, that was a huge win. Hopefully Smoltz can turn things around and get us another tomorrow.

Dan,
Kotsay's been struggling with his back and legs, so he can't run. In this case, they'd rather have a slowpoke who CAN run as opposed to someone fleet of foot who is creaky.
We really needed this game; provides quite the mental boost. The Sox struggled all night, but got it done in the end.

Yeah, Giants fan first, Sox fan second.
I mostly grew into a diehard Sox fan because I was a diehard Yankees hater basically from the moment I started watching baseball.
I'm a Giants fan first...one of the weird ones who hates the Angels more than the Dodgers because of 2002.

Ditto, actually. It's games like that where I usually cheer for a meteor to hit the stadium.

Can I root against the Yankees without rooting for the Angels?
Yuck. Any series involving any two of the Angels, Dodgers, and Yankees is lose-lose for me.
Nonetheless...Go Angels
