Boston Red Sox podcast on MVN Radio, Episode #53 where Paul says goodbye (to Julio Lugo) and Tim says hello (to Clay Buchholz)
Episode #53
Hosts: Paul Testa, Tim Daloisio
Guests: none
The All-Star game came and went without a Tim Wakefield appearance, and it appears we won’t see our All-Star until August as a nasty lower back strain has knocked Tim Wakefield to the DL in favor of a returning Clay Buchholz.
Lots of roster moves since we last talked, including the “goodbye” to the much maligned Julio Lugo (hint…we aren’t sad to see him go). Jed Lowrie and Mike Lowell are back, but is it all enough for the Red Sox to stand pat at the trade deadline? Hear Paul and I give thoughts in our Pre-Pre Trade Deadline Special segment.
And right on queue…there’s John Henry tweeting away…

I don’t know if the only reason he isn’t brought up more is because he plays for the Royals, but I would love to see the Sox get Teahan. He is hitting almost .300, you can plug him in a lot of places, and he is only like 28. And is probably about to hit or now entering his prime. He made us look silly the Royals last trip to Fenway, and he would probably be under our control for atleast 2 more years if not more.
Send them MDC, and a couple minor league hitters like Bates.
Teahen would be good pickup. The Boston Teahen Party would be a annual event. He does well at Fenway, and playing third would keep Lowrie at SS and Youk at 1b. If we can’t get V-Mart Teahen is an excellent alternative, better IMO than Atkins and others.
